A modernized Danskammer Generating Station is designed in anticipation of New York’s energy goals and will serve as a bridge to New York’s renewable energy future.
HERE IS HOW IN 4:
1.
Quick-Start Technology
Today, the plant takes 11 hours to ramp up before producing any power. A modernized facility will come online in minutes and provide reliable energy across the Hudson Valley.
2.
Transition to Hydrogen Power
A modernized Station can transition to zero-emission hydrogen power when the technology is available to transport and store hydrogen.
3.
A Reliable Energy Source
As New York moves toward renewables, it will need more quick-start plants to fill in the gaps in wind and solar production (Source: NYSIO: A Grid in Transition).
4.
Boosting The Local Economy
This $450-500 million dollar project will create 500 construction jobs and since Danskammer has committed to a Project Labor Agreement, these jobs will pay union scale wages and benefits ensuring that these will be family supporting jobs.
